Our Background
Since being established in 2018 and with operations beginning amid COVID-19, Mawejje Creations has been known for its unparalleled commitment to the people we serve. Mawejje Creations has made substantial strides in promoting sustainable fashion and driving positive impact. Through innovation, we have created eco-friendly fashion products in Uganda. Empowered over 500 banana farmers, providing them with a reliable market for banana fiber and enhancing their income by 30% on average, Reduced textile waste and greenhouse gas emissions by utilizing 114 million tons of banana by-products annually, Repurposed over 50,000 kilograms of textile waste, preventing it from ending up in landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,  Educated more than 1,000 through Hands-On Skills Training, fostering awareness and understanding of sustainable fashion practices

HANDS-ON SKILLS TRAINING
Our training program is designed to provide young people with hands-on skills training in the field of banana biomass waste management. Through this program, participants will learn about the various ways in which banana biomass waste can be processed and transformed into valuable products using banana fiber extraction and production techniques.
During the training, participants will have the opportunity to experience the entire process of banana biomass waste management, from the initial collection and sorting of the waste material to its treatment and processing into high-quality banana fiber products.
BANANA FIBER EXTRACTION AND PRODUCTION
Our organization is dedicated to the sustainable production of fashionable products made from banana fibers. We achieve this by engaging banana farmers and young people and providing them with the necessary skills to extract fibers from banana trunks.
Once the fibers are extracted, they are washed and dried in the sun. The fibers are then sorted according to their thickness and quality, after which they are spun into yarns or woven into fabrics.
At our organization, we are committed to empowering banana farmers and young people by providing them with a source of income through the extraction and production of banana fibers.
